about

This album tells the story of a voyage on a tall ship which hits a storm and eventually, in tatters, makes it to the shores of Indonesia.

On my first week alone on the ocean I hear the sounds of the ship moaning and creaking, and I contemplate how tenuous life is.

All these pieces are played on a Stuart and Sons concert grand piano with 102 notes. This particular piece was made using the fingernails on the strings. I was able to emulate the sound of a creaking wooden ship in a large ocean swell.
